KEEPING DRY AND WARM
It's taken a fair few years to get to the point of knowing what works for me. Here's the basics of what I am using to keep me dry and warm.
Boots
I've had a spot of the plantar fasciitis and found my Scarpa Mistral GTX aggrevated it. So I've gone back to my old brand and by far the best I know. These are awesome. Comfortable and hardwearing.
Hiking Trousers
Other than sometimes having to squeeze into the medium size pair, these are super comfy, very lightweight and dry so quickly after rain, they're a no brainer for me.
But I do also wear M&S stretch shorts!
Down Jacket
This is becoming the core warmth for most of my walks. I live in the SW UK, so winters are warmer than in the north. This jacket is perfect with a base layer and a waterproof over it for heavier showers
Waterproof
Such a good jacket. If you need advanced weather protection for exploring the hills, alongside reliable everyday waterproofing when you leave them behind, the Meridian does the job.
Undies
I spent a few years trying different brands and have settled on these. Comy and stop the rub!
Also trying out Danish Endurance merino trunks - so far so good.
Socks
Always reliable, last ages. They're a great everyday sock but IMO the most dependable sock for hiking. The range is great.
